WHAT
TO EXPECT
The retreat format offers a focused environment for trauma therapy, lasting 3-5 full days or 5 half-days. Full days include a lunch break where you can explore Northampton and relax in our common area.
Every experience is unique and tailored to you as the individual. Here's what to expect:
Day 1: Building the Roadmap
Discussion of your background, current issues, and previous experiences.
Creation of a "Worst Things List" to guide our sessions, focusing on intense emotional experiences like anger, sadness, or fear.
Introduction to calming visualizations for use during and after the retreat.
Processing: Healing the Wounds
Processing generally begins by day 2, progressing uniquely for each individual. We address items from the "Worst Things List" starting with the earliest experiences, adjusting the order as needed.
Techniques include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), parts work (IFS/Internal Family Systems and DNMS/Developmental Needs Meet Strategy), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and other methods.
These techniques access and reprocess traumatic memories to reduce their emotional impact, using tools such as bilateral stimulation, imagery, metaphors, and mindfulness.
The retreat is intensive, aimed at creating significant neurological changes. Emphasize self-care, responding to your body's needs. Some days might be energetic, others perfect for rest. Trust the process and be gentle with yourself.
Note that all intensive consultations and intakes will be done via Intensive Therapy Retreat
In addition to my intensive therapy retreats, I offer 90-minute sessions for a limited number of clients, employing the same techniques used in the retreats. Please contact me to discuss availability for new non-intensive clients.
